CHINA: Physicist, 92 and architect, 89, win top national award

Two Chinese scientistsphysicist Xie Jialin and architectWu Liangyongwere both given China's top science and technology award Tuesday morning at a high-profile annual ceremony held to honor excellent scientists andresearch achievements.

Attended by President Hu JintaoPremier Wen Jiabao and senior leaders LiChangchun and Li Keqiangthe eventstaged in the Great Hall of the Peoplesaw thetwo each conferred the State Top Scientific and Technological Award and awarded 5million yuan (794,900 U.S.dollars).
