Dreams For Seniors
By Marc Strauss in Pekin, Illinois
86 year–old Max Krukewitt has been living with a damaged roof for more than a year.
"We have quite a tremendous hole in the roof from it being there so long," Max Krukewitt told
News 25. "But they tell me they're getting started on it today and things will be a lot different then."
The repair work is being done thanks to a local organization called
Dreams For Seniors. Debbie Davison, who founded Dreams four years ago, learned that Max was emptying heavy buckets of water after Tuesday's storm.
"There was a tarp with a hole cut in it and that was draining into a cooler and then to a hose outside," said Davison. "I went to see it and the water was flooding into his house."
So Debbie called Timian Construction in Pekin, and they agreed to do fix Max's roof at a discount.
"It's donated time," said construction company owner Tim Timian. "I've got some young guys working for me. We're helping the community out and the seniors. Dreams For Seniors is a great program."
If the weather holds Max will have a new roof in a few days. But it's a big job and it will take most of the money Dreams For Seniors has on hand. So, Davison is looking for donations.

"Every little bit adds up. I'm already in the process of doing two other dreams and I really need help in this situation because we just couldn't say no to Max and Debbie." [
