Much of the literature in geriatric medicine relates to health care of older women, but less attention has been given to the problems specific to aging men. The second edition of Textbook of Men's Health and Aging is a well-written text that provides concrete, evidence-based information concerning the medical care and treatment of older men. According to the editors, this book is a by-product of an initiative of the International Society for the Study of the Aging Male. Eighty-five individuals affiliated with multiple universities in the United States and abroad have authored the chapters. The book is divided into 12 sections, each composed of chapters on a particular topic, for a total of 56 chapters. Section 1 comprises 4 chapters describing the biology of aging. This section nicely describes sex differences in animal models of aging, the biological basis for longevity differences between men and women, and age and sex...
