FRANCE: Mix US, French health insurance, retirement systems to bring reforms, Ted Stanger says in letter to Obama

. PARIS, France / Seniorscopie / January 28, 2009 American journalist and author, Ted Stanger, 64, lives in Paris. In a new book he has just published: Mr. President, Lettre Overte a Barack Obama, Stanger advises the new President Obama to reform the US health insurance and retirement systems, taking the best from the French and American systems. Stanger suggests the US adopts, like the French have already, a compulsory contributory health insurance. He favours three or four competitive insurance entities to evolve an efficient social security for seniors over 65, instead of one massive organisation. He questions the wisdom of high administrative costs of giant pension funds. Seniors have lost a portion of their savings because of the economic crisis. He calls for protecting savings against risks and introduction of pension funds that offer age-linked benefits. The above is a loose translation of the Seniorscopie report in French about Stanger's latest book. "I write somewhat sarcastic books about the French and the Americans, and what divides them, that is almost everything," Ted Stanger asserts on his official website: http://www.tedstanger.net. The uninitiated will do well to visit the site. Tells you all about Ted Stanger and makes you take him seriously. "There are no English editions of my books since I write directly in French, with mistakes, of course," he adds. Perhaps your Open Letter to the new American President will be translated by a White House aide, Mr. Stanger? Ted Stanger can be reached at: tedmstanger@gmail.com
