INDIA: Laughter is the Best Medicine at Grandparents Day Celebrations

. LUDHIANA, Punjab (Indian Express), September 13, 2008: To celebrate the Grandparents’s Day, a declamation contest was held last Tuesday in the primary wing of Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, where grandparents of the students were invited as judges. Children participated with much zeal and enthusiasm, and it was a treat to watch the young orators. The main topics were “Laughter is the best medicine”, “Are malls-a-hindrance or an asset to the society,” “Internet is more a cause of laziness or facilitator of knowledge etc.” A game for grandparents was also organised on the occasion. Sister Sobel, the principal, and Father John, the director of the school, honoured the guests and referred to grandparents as mentors whose guidance and affection could nurture the young minds of children. © 2008 Indian Express Newspapers (Mumbai) Ltd
