PHILIPPINES: Incentives for Caraga senior citizens okayed
BUTUAN CITY (PIA), July 29, 2008:
With the approval of the ordinance of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, senior citizens of the city of Cabadbaran shall now enjoy benefits aside from their usual discounts to rides and purchases.
The city government of Cabadbaran shall grant cash incentives to grandpas and grandmas aged seventy (70) years old and above. The ordinance aims to give special tribute and recognition to the old folks' contribution to the family institution and support their financial needs and to motivate and encourage them to be more active in participating in the city development.
The cash incentive shall cover only OSCA ID holders with at least 3-year residency at the city of Cabadbaran. For purposes of clarity, the age bracket of seventy years old and above shall include senior citizens whose 70th birthday falls on or before the beginning of January of the current budget year with a cut-off date of OSCA registration on the last day of December.
