In November last year, the former chemical engineer, who quit his job five years ago, wrote his first blog post in Chinese at hk. myblog.yahoo.com/chowkssg – a one-liner that read “Today I learnt how to blog”.
Now, the cyberguide volunteer at the Retired & Seniors Volunteer Programme – he teaches senior citizens how to use the computer – has an online diary documenting everything from his holidays in Sabah and Canada, passion for taiji, to observations on the recently-concluded World Cup.
Babes who blog
Who they are: Pretty, skimpily-dressed young things who flaunt their assets on their blogs. Often accused of cam-whoring, the practice of taking flattering photographs of themselves and posting them online. Then again, who’s complaining?
Specimen: Doe-eyed and slender, Feliza Ong is a picture of anime-cuteness. And thanks to her blog My Little Princess Dreams (meetlilprincess.blogspot.com), her babelicious good looks have not gone to waste.
The 19-year-old freelance model and business student at Nanyang Polytechnic has snagged modelling gigs through her photo-heavy blog, and will even be taking part in the Miss Singapore International pageant this year.
Though the blog – which she set up almost a year ago – is littered with photos of Feliza pouting and preening at the camera a la famous babe bloggers like Xiaxue (xiaxue. blogspot.com) and Dawn Yang (www. dawnyang.com), don’t call her a cam-whore.
She says adamantly: “My blog is mainly to keep my wide circle of friends updated on what I’m doing, and the photos are just there as an interesting add-on.”
Still, there’s a lot to look at, including a set of particularly sexy photographs that show her in micro-mini shorts and thigh-high stockings.
The fan mail she gets is generally complimentary, save for a few nasty comments in response to photos of herself in a school uniform for a costume party.
She doesn’t see her photos as provocative and draws the line at nudity. “It’s every blogger’s right to put up whatever photos he has,” she says.
But her pensively-written posts show she’s more than a pretty face.
Topics that get her thinking: Relationships, filial piety, and the distinction between junior colleges, polytechnics and institutes of technical education.

MALAYSIA: Cyberguide Volunteer Teaches Seniors How to Blog
KUALA LUMPUR (The Star), August 15, 2006:
Stiff fingers, alien user interfaces and gobbledygook commands may be the biggest hurdles for any new computer user, but it’s all easy as plug-and-play for 53-year-old retiree Chow Kwan Shing (pic below).
In November last year, the former chemical engineer, who quit his job five years ago, wrote his first blog post in Chinese at hk. myblog.yahoo.com/chowkssg – a one-liner that read “Today I learnt how to blog”.
