JAMAICA: High Priority For Care of Elderly
SPANISH TOWN, St. Catherine, Jamaica (Jamaica Gleaner), July 8, 2006:
Barry Amos, President of the Lions Club of Linstead has affirmed that care of the elderly is very high on the priority list of the Club which will embark on a once a month medical care exercise for the elderly. The aim of the club is to take care of the old people as they form an integral part of the country's history, he said.
"We will also continue our shut-in activities where several elderly persons are being given packages of grocery," he added.
The volunteer nature of the club will continue. Next September the Canadian Vision Care will be visiting Jamaica and Linstead will figure prominently on their list. Several persons will be screened and aided if they need vision care.
