BEIRUT (THE DAILY STAR), November 20, 2004:
Reading just got more fun for the aged in Beirut, with the opening of the second municipal library in Achrafieh, in the middle of a public garden.
Assabil, a non-governmental association promoting public libraries in Lebanon, and the municipality of Beirut, have together promoted the library.
It costs LL10,000 to get a membership for life at the library and up to two books can be borrowed for 21 days.
The opening ceremony was attended by the mayor of Beirut, Abdel-Monem Aris, who promised a library in each of Beirut's 12 districts.
