INDIA: Suraksha Bandhan - Security Bond for Grandparents

KOLKATA (The Statesman), April 7, 2004: Did you ever tell your grandparents how much they mean to you and how much you care for them? Did you ever let them know that they were your heroes and the strength beneath your wings? If you haven’t, tell them today. For they need your love. Share with them a few moments of joy. Share a smile. A tear. Show them that you care. It can change their lives. And yours too! Wockhardt Hospital provided a perfect platform today for youth to convey this beautiful message of love to their grandparents. ‘Suraksha Bandhan’ launched on the event of World Health Day at Raj Bhavan made a wholesome attempt to strengthen the bond between youngsters and senior citizens. Scores of students from prominent schools pledged to stand by the senior citizens in sunshine and shadow and be their moral support in all odds. As a token of sheer gratitude and deep and sincere love the children tied the auspicious ‘Suraksha Bandhan’ band on the wrist of their grand parents. Eminent footballer Mr. Sailen Manna and renowned film personality Smt. Sabitri Chatterjee and West Bengal Governor Viren J. Shah, were present, reports Anuparna Mukherjee, Coordinator, of Loreto Day School, Bowbazar.
