A group of nurses has spearheaded a programme that looks after the needs of frail and home-bound senior citizens in the community.
Called the Nurses' Initiative for Community Engagement, or Nice, it involves volunteer nurses paying home visits to check on elderly people living alone who are too frail to step out of their homes.
The programme was officially launched by Health Minister Gan Kim Yong at Hougang Community Club on Sunday, as part of the Hougang grassroots organisations' wellness programme.
The official roll-out came after a successful pilot that saw 96 senior citizens from the Hougang, Marine Parade and Henderson areas benefiting from the programme since last October.
