Following in the footsteps of glamorous Helen Mirren a group of over-60s have oversubscribed to a drama class.
The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama last month announced it would be running the ‘Drama for the over-60s’ course to celebrate its 60th anniversary and encourage more older people to learn new skills.
The RSAMD is planning to repeat the course to satisfy the demand for places.

A spokeswoman said: “The Over-60s drama class is fully subscribed and has a waiting list now. There has been so much interest that we are planning to repeat the course.”
The focus of the course is on exploring ideas and trying out new things both individually and as part of a group.
Students don’t work with a script, instead they are guided through the creative process and encouraged to share their thoughts and explore ideas resulting in a stage performance at the end of the 10 weeks.
The students will share their work with an invited audience in one of the academy’s performance spaces.
Eona Craig, head of Dramaworks at the RSAMD, said: “Drama for the over-60s is a first for the academy. People over the age of 60 have some great life experiences.
“Our course is designed to help them draw out their stories from childhood through to who they are today. There is no script and no upper age limit.”
