ZURICH, Switzerland / EXIT / May 9, 2011
EXIT, committed to self-determination of people in life and in death, has declared that the organisation itself does not lower the barriers to assisted suicide.
The 55,000 member organisation, which says it receives 1,500 requests annually for assisted suicide, EXIT has asserted that it is INCORRECT to say that on its own it is willing to lower the barriers to death.
EXIT is, however, ready to accept legal requirements and professional level stipulations, and contends it is in favour of less legal restrictions that may be imposed on assisted suicides by the elderly. Photo courtesy: swissinfo/Keystone
