A resident, who only wished to be known as Hoon, 62, said she appreciated the free service for the residents.

“I last had a haircut a few months ago and I like my new look after the cut,” she said, beaming happily.

The free service was part of the studio's corporate social responsibility programme. “We want to contribute to society, doing what we do best, by giving them hair cuts.”

Tan Thean Suan, 58-year-old  mother of one of the directors of the studio who is a retired hairstylist, also put her experience to good use by helping out at the event.

The residents later received angpow packets and a packet of vermicelli each.
