KOREA: Most Elderly People Want to Live Apart from Their Children

More and more people do not want to live with their children in old age or depend on them financially, a poll suggests.

In the survey of 500 married men and women across the country by pollster Focus Company for the Chosun Ilbo early this month, 61.6 percent of respondents said they want to live apart from their children and need no financial help from them.

Some 24.4 percent wanted financial support from their children but would prefer to live apart from them.
