BARCELONA, Spain / Barcelona Reporter / Society / May 2, 2010
April 2010 marked a tragic and sad negative record: it was the month with the highest deaths of women victims of gender violence in the last decade. The latest, today, was on the outskirts of Valencia.
Nine died in April 1999 and 2002 and so far marked the limit of the crimes of ‘machismo’ in the last decade in Spain.
Recently, a study of the Observatory Against Domestic Violence and Gender under the Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ), warned of the overrepresentation of 'gender murders in Spanish towns with fewer than 5,500 inhabitants, which "shows the need to extend all prevention resources". [rc]
