More than 1500 Cubans have surpassed 100 years, a research coordinated by the National Aged Adult and Social Assistance Direction of the Public Health Ministry stated.
More than 1500 Cubans have surpassed 100 years, a research coordinated by the National Aged Adult and Social Assistance Direction of the Public Health Ministry stated.
The island's 2004-2008 updating of the Centenarians Study shows that 53 people more than two years ago currently surpass that figure, Granma newspaper reported. This states that there is a centenarian per each 7,296 Cubans, and also one per each 1,269 aged adults.
According to information from the National Statistics Office, more than 1 950 000 people surpassing 60 years lived in the island in December.
The international seminar «Satisfactory Longevity: Integral Vision», which includes a centenarians meeting, will be held from Wednesday to Friday at the Nacional Hotel of Cuba, in the presence of delegates from 10 countries. [rc]
