The public selling of a 2-meter-long crocodile in a newly opened supermarket in Fengtai District in Beijing has raised criticism from citizens on May 22.
According to Miss Zhang, she came to the newly-opened Yonghui Supermarket and saw a crocodile was lying in the seafood section with its mouth and limbs being tied up, which attracted many citizens. The crocodile is about two meters long. Some cooking method has also been introduced near the crocodile. "Crocodiles are the national protected animals. How can they sell them as commodities?" She said. [rc]
