KENYA: Number of Beggars Up By 50 Percent

. NAIROBI, Kenya / Daily Nation / July 3, 2009 The number of beggars in this town has risen by more than 50 per cent in the past few years due to increasing poverty. According to Save The Aged, a local aid group, beggars were mainly elderly people. Severe drought has seen large herds of livestock dying, leaving many people in the pastoralist community, destitute.
