The number of beggars in this town has risen by more than 50 per cent in the past few years due to increasing poverty.
According to
Save The Aged, a local aid group, beggars were mainly elderly people.
Severe drought has seen large herds of livestock dying, leaving many people in the pastoralist community, destitute. [
