A German judge who ordered 47 demented elderly people strapped to their beds lost an appeal Thursday and must now serve 42 months in jail for perverting the course of justice.
A lower court had imposed the sentence under a part of the German criminal code aimed at crooked judges.
The federal high court in Karlsruhe ruled he had no grounds for appeal.
The man, from Nuertingen in Baden-Wuerttemberg state, who was 45 at the time of his conviction last November, signed court orders for the old people to be restrained without seeing them for himself. [rc]
