CHINA: Prosecutors let elderly man go after sob stories

. BEIJING / China Daily / June 8, 2009 An elderly man who robbed an elderly woman of 2,980 yuan was allowed to walk free after his life story moved prosecutors in Changsha, capital of Hunan province. Liang, 59, earns his livelihood by singing and begging on the streets. He uses the money to pay tuition for his three sons who are studying at a university. After Liang was arrested earlier this year, his sons and neighbors immediately wrote to prosecutors and begged for mercy.
