INDIA: Event for Senior Citizens sheds light on arthritis

PUNE, Maharashtra / The Indian Express / June 1, 2009 A programme ‘Mukti Sandhedukhi pasun’ (Freedom from Arthritis) was organised by the RTI Forum of Senior Citizens for Instant Information (Maharashtra) at Prof Ramkrishna More Auditorium, Chinchwad recently. Dr Narendra Vaidya, chief orthopedic surgeon of Lokmanya Hospital, Nigdi said the modern techniques have made it possible to get freedom from arthritis completely. “There is lack of knowledge on the cause, prevention, diet and exercise for arthritis. Painless operations are possible nowadays thanks to the modern medical techniques. Right treatment, diet and exercise can make this possible,” he added. An entertainment programme ‘Munnabhaichi Dokedukhi’ by Atharva Theatres, Nigdi, was staged to enlighten people by giving scientific information through entertainment. Dr V G Vaidya, chief trustee Lokmanya Medical Foundation, inaugurated the function. Also participating were Nilkanth Kudolikar, president Maharashtra State Senior citizen Federation; Pandharinath Kamthe, president, Pimpri Chinchiwad Senior Citizen Federation; Dr Narendra Vaidya; and Dr Shriram Pandey, president of RTI Forum of Senior Citizens for Instant Information (Maharashtra). © 2009 The Indian Express Limited
