IRAN: Film on Longings of Lonely Elderly Couple is Subject of Award-Winning Film

. TEHRAN, Iran / Tehran Times / Art / April 16, 2009 By Tehran Times Art Desk "Snowy Dreams", directed by Salem Salavati, won the Best Director Award at the University of Melbourne's 2nd Kurdish Festival of Moving Images held on April 12 and 13. The film narrates the longings of an elderly couple who live alone in a deserted place for those who have left them, a notion which seems irrational to most others. The Best Editor Award goes to Kianosh Moshirvaziri for “Border” by Sattar Chamani-Gol. The film is about an Iraqi family who wants to take their bride from Iran but they confront frontier officials who prevent them crossing the border, forcing them to follow a circuitous path in order to arrive back home in their own country. The festival was held to promote the work of unknown Kurdish film makers who do not have access to any means of publicity and screening venues for their films. Copyright © 1998-2007 The Tehran Times
