Organised by TISI Sangam Ba branch, as part of the 83rd annual Sangam convention, close to 70 senior citizens were given a reception for their contribution to the Sangam convention over the years.
Ba Senior Citizens Community Centre president Davendra Naidu said the community centre was a first in the country to look after the needs of the elderly on a daily basis. The centre has an eating/serving area, a library, common room, gym space and recreational area.
"These senior citizens during their younger days have served and contributed toward the Sangam foundation and this function is to honour them," he said.
TISI Sangam president Dorsami Naidu reminded all that the elderly citizens present had given their time toward the institution's cause. The convention is an annual event with committees participating to disseminate knowledge of South Indian traditions.
