The Meadows of Dorchester announced Theresa Barrett as the winner of the 30 Year Recipient of the Volunteer Service Award in the volunteer luncheon Wednesday.
Meadows of Dorchester is a nursing home for senior citizens and Theresa has volunteered there since 1974.
"Theresa is on the auxillary committee and helps the residents of our home through fundraisers and helping out at activities," said resident and community programs manager Angelo Rubino. "She helps out with a lot of things."
"I like to take the (residents) out for their doctor's appointments and I like to sit and chat with them," said Barrett. "My friend's mother was in a home when I was younger and it inspired me to volunteer for that kind of organization."
Barrett, now 80 years old, volunteers less than she used to, she is "still committed to seeing everyone and helping with special occasions."
Barrett previously received the 18 and 25 Year Awards, as well as a volunteer award in 1999 and many other volunteer pins accomplishment.
