CHINA: Spot study for GAA on Elderly in Hunan gives interesting insight

. NEW YORK, NY / Global Action on Aging / January 23, 2009 Menghan Shen (known as Mandy) visited Global Action on Aging about nine months ago. A Chinese national, Mandy, who is studying at Bryn Mawr College near Philadelphia, wanted to carry out a research project focused on older persons in the rural village in Hunan Province where her father grew up. Mandy proposed to interview older people in this town to learn about how they supported themselves, their activities and their relations with their adult children. She agreed to write up her findings for Global Action on Aging and readers of its newsletter.
