CANADA: ICAA 2020 will shape the future of the active-aging industry
Online initiative will engage professionals in creating a vision for the future
VANCOUVER, BC / ICAA / January 26, 2009
The International Council on Active Aging (ICAA), an association that supports professionals who develop wellness centers and services for adults over 50, is engaging the global ICAA community in shaping the future of active aging.
A new initiative, entitled “ICAA 2020. Creating a vision for the future,” invites individuals to take part in an ongoing visioning process to identify and define elements needed to prepare the industry for the future.
The annual ICAA Strategy Session, a think tank of active-aging leaders, will review and prioritize these recommendations to create a step-by-step action plan for the industry. The platform for the ICAA 2020 initiative is the ICAA Network, or ICAANET.
Recently launched, this networking site will help active-aging professionals around the world “connect and create,” supporting the goals of ICAA 2020.
The active-aging industry arose out of a convergence of trends involving longevity, demographics and the need for services to help people live a productive, active life. ICAA 2020, sponsored by Morrison Senior Dining, aims to harness the energy of this movement and focus it for future growth.
ICAA believes that unifying the efforts of organizations focused on adults over 50 benefits these groups and the people they reach. Together with ICAANET, ICAA 2020 exemplifies the association’s efforts to connect like-minded professionals who share the goals of changing society’s views of aging and improving quality of life within the six dimensions of wellness.
This wellness model most commonly includes emotional, vocational, physical, spiritual, intellectual and social dimensions.
