The comedian girlfriend of Monty Python and Fawlty Towers star John Cleese has hit back at a report claiming she lied about her age.
The Daily Mail says records obtained in the United States show Barbie Orr is 18 years older than the 27 years her profile on an internet movie database claims.
Orr was born in New York in 1964, the newspaper says. That makes her 45 and somewhat softens the couple's scandal factor in the celebrity dating hierarchy.
British tabloids went crazy reporting the efforts by Cleese, 69, to keep up with his younger girlfriend.
"He takes a lot of vitamin supplements and eats really well and he works out. His arms are really muscular and he still has amazing legs," Orr reportedly told the Sunday Mirror earlier this year.
"He's had his teeth all redone and he recently got hair plugs [transplants from other parts of the body] to cover the bald patches at the front.
"He's getting back on the market again so he's got to get himself in shape."
She reportedly said of their first sexual encounter: "He was going to New York the next day for two months and I thought if he has a piece of this it will seal the deal - and I'm sorry, but it did."
She reportedly went on to say that Cleese was in good shape "for an old guy", explaining: "You know, they're normally saggy down there, but he really has a nice package".
It's all about age
She has responded to the Daily Mail article on her website, which does not list her age. "The press has been after me for quite a while ... and I finally caved in ... I wish I had not," she writes. "They said they were looking for a nice fun article ... and then wrote junk and fiction."
Orr does not clarify her age - "Next week I will be 75!!!!" - but disputes ever having commented on Cleese's "package".
"Anyone who knows me knows I do not use that word unless I am asking about the mail and NOT the MALE," Orr writes.
The pair have been together for about three months. Cleese is in the process of divorcing his third wife, Alyce Fay Eichelberger.
