INDIA: Only 10 out of 28 states, seven union territories have notified Seniors law

NEW DELHI (ZeeNews.com), October 17, 2008 The high-level meeting concluded here today of welfare secretaries of states organised by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to review the welfare schemes run by it in the country. The Central Government took serious note of the fact that only 10 out of 28 states and seven union territories have so far notified the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act and asked the rest of the states to take necessary action for the same, sources said.
