Mr Thitchener is already given the long saga very negative reviews across the board.
“It's pathetic. They took down the letterbox on Paterson Street two years ago, and I've only wanted one question answered: 'what have you done with it?'
“I've rung Australia Post and the Toowoomba Council repeatedly, and even they don't know what's going on!”
A missing letterbox may not seem like a big deal, but for Mr Thitchener, who lives with Chronic Obstructive Airways Disease, it's more than just an inconvenience.
“We have many elderly ladies and widows that live here, and we all write a lot of letters. It's not easy for me to just go to another box. The only option I have is to catch a taxi, so it costs ten dollars just to post some letters! It's ridiculous!”
An Australia Post spokesman said the mailbox was removed to widen Ruthven Street. It is not known if it will be replaced.
