INDIA: High Court to the rescue of aged woman
CHENNAI (NewIndPress), August 19, 2008:
The Madras High Court has directed the Doraipakkam police to provide protection to an aged woman who lost her property to land-grabbers and also apprehended danger to her life. Justice S K Krishnan, who gave the direction while disposing of a criminal original petition from N Vijayalakshmi, also transferred investigation on her complaint against the land-grabbers to the Crime Branch CID.
According to Vijayalakshmi, she owned 45 cents in Tambaram taluk. Due to family circumstances, she stayed in Hyderabad. Taking advantage of this, certain persons created documents by impersonating, forging signatures and thumb impressions and attempted to dispossess her of her property.
She lodged a complaint with the Additional Commissioner of Police on June 30, 2006, which was forwarded to the CCB in Thousandlights, which registered an FIR after 11 months. But no step was taken on her complaint. Hence, the present petition.
