NEW ZEALAND: Couple aged 100 and 99 crash after terror drive

WELLINGTON (New Zealand Herald), June 2, 2008: A couple, aged 100 and 99, drove the length of Wellington's Ngauranga Gorge in the wrong lane last night before colliding with an oncoming vehicle. Sergeant Marc Clausen, of police central communications, said 10 calls were logged by concerned drivers who saw the car heading north up the gorge in the southbound lane just after 9pm. He could not confirm which of the couple was behind the wheel. They escaped with only minor injuries, but State Highway 1 was blocked for more than an hour while accident scene was cleared. The couple are believed to have travelled about 2km before colliding with another car. - NZPA Copyright © 2008, APN Holdings NZ Limited
