MALAYSIA: Emulate the elderly

KUALA LUMPUR (Malay Mail), March 12, 2008: "Emulate the elderly", says Alex of Petaling Jaya, in a letter to the editor of Malay Mail published today. "For Chan Peng of Pandamaran, Port Klang, being 100 years old did not prevent her from exercising her right to vote last Saturday. The same goes to the other senior citizens who voted as well. "Although there were those who were ill and needed to be carried to the polling centres, some found their way around the obstacle. I am impressed by how they enthusiastically queued up under the sun to cast their votes. "Even as they make their way into the golden years, they strongly believe that they have a role to play in a developing Malaysia. "As one of the younger generation, I salute them. I believe not all youth out there are eager to follow their footsteps. I believe we can learn a lot from them. "Emulate their spirit and remember that one vote can make a difference.
