PAKISTAN: 109-Year-Old Tells Secrets Of Old Age
KARACHI, Pakistan (Unique Pakistan), January 20, 2008:
One-hundred and nine-year-old Baba Ghulam Muhammad Jatt has said that the secret of his good health lies in walking on foot and adherence to a simple and traditional diet.
Baba Ghulam, a resident of Mailsi, while talking here on Friday, said that his hair and moustache had turned black again and he had never been to any physician owing to good health.
He said that he is overwhelmed by fascinating thoughts when he finds himself passing through the second century of his life with a stalwart physic. Having got two wives, he has no less than 50 grandchildren.
About third marriage, he proudly said, "I will contract my third marriage with a 'Houri' (Hoor) who lives in the gardens of paradise whose beauty is said to be matchless." He said that both of his marriages were arranged, as he never fell in love in his life.
He told that he was seeing his fourth generation. Talking about the expenditure incurred on his Valeema reception, he said, "The total cost of my marriage was Rs 20, adding that all the villagers had been invited.
"My father arranged the money by selling tobacco harvested from our own fields, weighing 520 kg," he added.
Recalling his heyday, Baba Ghulam Muhammad narrated that he was born in 1899 in Kangna village of Hushiarpur District of the Sub-continent that was ruled by the British at that time. He told that he took part in the Pakistan Movement and at that time he was 48-year-old.
In his message for the new generation, he urged the youth to offer prayers regularly and act upon the Islamic teachings.
