BOLIVIA: Life Long Old Age Pension For Dignity Of The Elderly

LA PAZ, Bolivia (RedBolivia), October 23, 2007: The Chamber of Deputies has incorporated in its Tuesday agenda the proposed law for the creation of a lifetime old age pension Dignity benefit to the elderly. Gustavo Torrico, MAS´s whip president, informed that that main political parties must present their proposals and suggestions for this matter until this past Monday, if not, the matter it will continue its regular proceedings and it will be proceeded with its treatment in a private session for Tuesday. He said "If the opponent political parties do not present viable proposals and they only try to hinder the project, we will continue with its normal proceedings; what is more, it is a project that must be treated with urgency as the Constitution stipulates." All information about old pension Dignity benefit has been presented. Old age Dignity pension, which will be paid instead of the Bonosol, will come into effect in January 2008 and it will benefit the elderly people who are 60 years of age and older with a sum of 200 bolivian pesos ($US 25.-) monthly (that is to say 2.400 bolivian pesos annually).
