PAKISTAN: Retired Face Difficulties in Getting Pensions

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan (Daily Times), July 30, 2007: Hundreds of retired employees are facing problems in receiving pension after the services of local bodies employees was handed over to the district government. The orders have yet to be implemented even after the Punjab government’s clear instructions to the district government regarding the payment of gratuity and pension from development funds. Retired employees have demanded the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take suo moto notice against the non interest of the District Government and mitigate their sufferings regarding delay in the payment of pensions.
