CHINA: Elderly Woman Takes Elderly Son to Court

BEIJING (China Daily), September 24, 2006: A 93-year-old woman surnamed Cai filed a lawsuit against her 69-year-old son surnamed Wu on Thursday, becoming the oldest plaintiff on record in Qionghai of Hainan Province. Cai, who frequently fell ill, had asked Wu to pay her 100 yuan (US$12) a month. She said her son has not paid her daily living expense for several years. The court has accepted the case and is currently arranging to open a public hearing. Copyright 1995-2006.
