INDIA: Delhi Police Offers Online Help to Senior Citizens
NEW DELHI (IndiaEnews), August 10, 2006:
Delhi Police today launched an online facility to ensure safety of the capital's senior citizens, who are worried after the rise in crimes against them.
Police Commissioner K.K. Paul inaugurated the Online Registration and Feedback facility on the Delhi Police website (www.delhipolice.nic.in).
The move comes 10 days after Dev Raj Grover, 74, and his wife Vimla, 70, were found murdered in their Karol Bagh home by their domestic help.
Paul said: 'The Online Registration and Feedback facility for the senior citizens is intended to bring convenience to the vulnerable senior citizens and to make the Senior Citizens Security Scheme more easy, quick and transparent.'
Senior citizens can register online without visiting a police station and police would keep track of them by sending out constables to check about their well-being.
Paul said the updation of information such as any change of domestic helps or change of address would also be possible by just logging on to the website. He added that the website would also benefit the handicapped.
