IRELAND: Refugee Centre May Become Hospital for the Elderly
BRAY, Ireland (Unison.ie), July 7, 2006:
One of the country's largest refugee reception centres could be turned into a hospital for elderly patients.
It is reported that the Tanaiste and Minister for Health Mary Harney is in discussions with the Minister for Justice Michael McDowell over the use of the Baleskin Centre in Finglas, in north Dublin.
The centre has seen the numbers of people seeking asylum falling since the citizenship referendum.
A decision is to be made on the future of the facility within two weeks.
