CHINA: 80-Year Old Man Opens In-House Chat Room

TIANJIN, China (China Daily), July 17, 2006: While young people gather online to chat, elderly people still prefer to do things the normal way. To kill time, an 80-year-old man opened a chat room in his own house in Tianjin at his own expense, and communicated with many others and shared time with them through easy conversation. Over the past nine years, scores of elderly people have gathered at the room every Tuesday. They share their anxieties and loneliness, and talk casually about issues of concern for senior citizens.
