PAKISTAN: Earthquake Hit Elderly Among Victims to be Shifted
MUZAFFARABAD
(People's Daily - Xinhua), June 25, 2006:
Pakistan government has decided to shift 11,000 earthquake-affected residents of Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, and its outskirts 30 villages to safer areas by July in the backdrop of impending monsoon.
Geo TV Sunday said monsoon rains were expected to start in July, when landslides might hit these villages.

Raja Abbas, Commissioner Camp Management Organization at Muzaffarabad, said that the arrangements for the shift of 6,500 people from 1,000 families had thus far been completed. According to the Geological Survey of Pakistan, these villages might suffer landslide during the monsoon rains.
