KUWAIT: Those Who Have Worked 30 Years May Have to Retire

KUWAIT (The Kuwait Times), June 15, 2006: The undersecretary's council at the Ministry of Education does not agree with the compulsory retirement law for those who have completed thirty years service. However, according to rumour, the law will be applied to teaching staff on July 1 and to administrative staff at the beginning of August. Sources said the subject was not on the agenda, but admitted discussions have taken place between the minister and the relevant assistant undersecretary. Those who have served thirty years or more are upset that no decision has been formally announced and that the whole issue has been left to press reports. They have called on officials to defer the issue, saying the ministry badly needs their expertise and that they are part of the wealth of the nation. © ALL RIGHT RESERVED KUWAIT TIMES NEWSPAPER, KUWAIT
