Iran's Kermanshah province will celebrate World Museum Day and Cultural Heritage Week through some special programs. Flowers will be showered on Taq-e Bostan by the paraglider team of Kermanshah province on May 18 on the World Museum Day and the first day of Cultural Heritage Week.
“This ceremony will be accompanied by a special air demonstration by the paragliding team of Kermanshah province. As they are descending, the paragliders will shower flowers and greeting cards with messages about the occasion of World Museum Day on Taq-e Bostan which is the symbol of Kermanshah province,” said Alireza Moradi Bistouni, in charge of Cultural Heritage Week activities.
A ceremony will be held in Khadivi Historical House with performance of Kermanshah’s folk music and dance, Iranian traditional music with Daf and Tanbur, and poem reading from Shahnameh.
Admision to Cultural Heritage Week events and to museums and historical sites will be free for all senior citizens.
Taq-e Bostan is a masterpiece of rock relief from the Sassanid era (226-650 AD). It is located 5 km from the city of Kermanshah in western Iran in the heart of the Zagross mountains.
