MacLeodganj (Dharamsala), July 8, 2005: Thousands of followers and faithful devotees of the Dalai Lama gathered here from early this week to celebrate the 70th birthday of Tibetan leader on July 6. The time has come for every concerned individual to campaign for bringing hope and compassion into the lives of millions of human beings who are suffering in many parts of the world, Tenzin Gyatso said in a personal interview with Ravi Chawla, Editor of SENIORS WORLD CHRONICLE. Mass media in every form can instil faith and hope in the basic goodness of Man. "Use your columns to spread the message of peace and harmony, specially among those men who are suffering oppression at the hands of other men", the spiritual leader popular as the 14th Dalai Lama appealed.
Adressing Mr. Chawla's son, Bruno, a high school teacher, the Dalai Lama emphasised the role of teachers everywhere in shaping the future of the world's young. "You must make good human beings of all children you are teaching", the Guru advised. Winner of the Nobel Prize for Peace in 1989, the Dalai Lama has been living in exile in India and is pushing for greater autonomy for the Himalayan region.
