PAKISTAN: Facilities for Seniors At Public Places
KARACHI (The Dawn-APP), October 3, 2006:
Sindh Minister for Inter-provincial Coordination Dr Sohrab Khan Sarki has said that special counters for senior citizens would be set up at airports, railway stations, banks and such other places.
He was speaking as chief guest at a function organized by the Aga Khan Social Welfare Board for Pakistan in collaboration with Pakistan Senior Citizens' Association to mark the International Day of Older Persons here on Saturday.
"It is our elders who always offered sacrifices and provided us with guidance. Now it is time we pay back," he said. Our elders had played an active and pivotal role in the Pakistan Movement, which eventually led to the creation of our homeland.
Other speakers highlighted the problems being faced by senior citizens in Pakistan and suggested ways and means to provide them relief.
